“Hey, how are you?”
How many times do you get this question throughout the week? If your week goes anything like mine, it’s at least 30 times.
And of all those times, what is your answer? There were long periods of my life where I can guarantee exactly what my answer was every time.
“Tired.”
Life can be tiring! You have to go places, meet appointments, cook meals, exercise, pay bills, run errands, volunteer and that doesn’t even scratch the surface of all you do in a week.
Not to mention the things that come up in life that you didn’t plan, yet still have to handle weekly, monthly and yearly. Getting sick, losing a job, healing from injuries, forgiving a friend.
LIFE IS TIRING. It’s taxing. It’s difficult. It’s a tightrope walk while juggling eggs. And if you haven’t tried walking across a 20 foot tightrope, 50 feet in the air while juggling a dozen raw eggs, let me tell you. It’s not easy.
Okay, so I’ve never actually done that myself either, but I can imagine.
How To Balance Your Life
So you’re overwhelmed. You’re exhausted. You’re falling asleep at your desk, at the dinner table, basically anywhere you can find a moment to sit down. What’s the solution?
Here are some sure-fire ways to regain your footing, balance your to-do list, boost your energy and get excited again about living life TO THE FULLEST!
- Accept, support and delegate.
Balancing acts are difficult, but they become easier the more people you involve. Learning to not only accept help, but to also ASK FOR HELP in a time of need is a golden skill. Find those who are there to support you and seek their help. You will find more often than not that there is always someone there who is willing to take a load or two from your back.
- Balance is a dynamic and daily practice.
Because every day is different, the way you go about balancing each day will be different. Learn to accept that life is always changing and that what was needed yesterday may not be needed today. It is a process and a practice. Instead of thinking of a balanced life as a perfect life, think of it as a life where you continue to try. You may lose balance every once in a while, but you will find it again.
- Set goals and prioritize.
Setting goals is crucial when creating a balanced life. And once you have set your goals for the day, make sure to do the most important goals FIRST. Find your priority in every moment. Decide what you want to achieve in the day, what your purpose is and ask yourself if this is something that will help you reach that goal or if it’s something that can wait.
- Boost your energy!
It doesn’t matter what you plan during the day or what gets thrown at you, you’re not going to get it done if you don’t have the energy. Or if you do get it done without the energy, it sure won’t get done well.
