Happy Yoga Day! Or should I say, Namaste.
Yoga is a common activity in the health and wellness crowd. For many it is a time of meditation and self-growth. For others it is a physical challenge or workout. Some look at yoga simply as a way to relax and connect with themselves and nature. I’m guessing that you are reading this post because you’re either obsessed with yoga yourself or have some interest in it.
Here we want to talk about this relatively new holiday and give you some cool yoga poses you should be doing everyday! We’ve also got a fantastic RED juice recipe to take to your next yoga class. And if you’re not into juicing, don’t worry! We’ve got something for you too.
History Of International Day Of Yoga
Yoga has been a practice in many cultures for over 5,000 years and is considered a physical, mental and spiritual transformational practice. On December 11 in 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21st as the International Day of Yoga. The idea came from Hon’ble Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi in an address he made earlier that year.
Mr Narendra Modi declared yoga as “an invaluable gift… It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. It is not about exercise, but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and nature.”
So why June 21st? It just so happens that this day coincides with the Summer Solstice, which is the longest day of the year.

Yoga Poses You Should Do Everyday
1. Garland Pose (Malasana) - This pose is similar to a squat and releases the lower back and opens the hips.2. Four-Limbed Staff Pose (Chaturanga Dandasana) - Looks like you might be doing a pushup. This pose should be done slowly with full, big breaths to promote awareness and control.
3. Extended Triangle Post (Utthita Trikonasana) - A classic standing pose to release the lower back, strengthen the core and expand your body and mind.
4. Crescent Pose - Opens the hips and the psoas, brings space to the chest and puts power in the feet.
